About Our Business

Incorporated as a limited company in 2002, SDC Construction Ltd. is another 100% owned subsidiary of SDC which provides local employment opportunities within the village. The construction company initially started as a mine site service provider of heavy equipment operators, hotshot services, construction labour supply, and road building and airport maintenance. It then transitioned into providing services within the community, receiving contracts from SK Highways to rebuild and pave the access road into Ile a la Crosse and paving the streets throughout the village.

Who we are

Sakitawak Development Corporation (SDC)

Sakitawak Development Corporation (SDC), is the economic development corporation for the Northern Village of Ile-a-la-Crosse. Our purpose is to invest in regional and community businesses across multiple sectors with emphasis on creating employment.

SDC’s seven voting board members are appointed by its sole shareholder, the Northern Village of Ile a la Crosse to carry out the operations of SDC. Currently, two are appointed Village Council members and five are members at-large. The Mayor of Ile a la Crosse serves as an ex-officio non-voting board member.
